A Soft Place to Land Opening Reception
As we brace ourselves for another politically charged election year, A Soft Place to Land defiantly centers joy as a relational and embodied practice worthy of archiving and passing on.
Conceptualized in collaboration with participating artists, this multidisciplinary exhibition invites audiences to connect with our ánimos, a Spanish word referring to the state of our spirit, as an act of survival and care. Artists engage with these central questions: What lifts your spirits? What would reclaiming a home base rooted in joy look and feel like? What evidence of it are we leaving behind to ensure we can always reconnect to it?
Join SOMArts for the opening reception on Friday, July 19, 6–9 PM PST. Featuring an opening ritual led by Bushmana Africa, this evening invites audiences to lay down their burdens and ground themselves in the space and the artwork.
