NOTHING#15: a bed
Autumn Knight’s performances create spaces for intimacy between the audience and performer. Her series NOTHING#15: a bar, a bed, a bluff is a three-part exploration of the Italian concept of dolce far niente, or “the sweetness of doing nothing.”
The second installment in the series, NOTHING#15: a bed, meditates on the possibility of rehearsing for loss as a two-person performance unfolds in a shared bed. The work is inspired by a 1994 conversation between the conceptual artist Félix González-Torres and Hans Ulrich Obrist, in which González-Torres discusses making art to confront his greatest fear of losing his partner, who later died of AIDS-related complications.
This work will be followed by NOTHING#15: a bluff—premiering on November 7, 8, and 9 at PICA—and NOTHING: all at once, a free exhibition that will be on view at PICA from October 3 through December 21, 2024.
