PDX CONTEMPORARY ART is pleased to present the silent twig, a solo exhibition by Wes Mills.
Deeply personal yet visually spare, the drawings are a reflection of Mill’s experiences and surroundings. Included in the exhibition are a series of color pencil drawings, small watercolor paintings, and a collection of oil paintings done on small, round wooden log slabs.
The works are a study in the contemplative and emanate an intuitive sense of the universal. Seemingly simple marks bind pieces together. These meditative works draw the eye with their complexity and restrained energy, asking for careful observation.
Mills’ prints and drawings are included in such collections as Museum of Modern Art (New York, NY), Whitney Museum of American Art (New York, NY), Museum of Contemporary Art (Los Angeles, CA), New Mexico Museum of Fine Art (Santa Fe, NM), Rose Art Museum at Brandeis University (Waltham, MA), Portland Art Museum (Portland, OR), Missoula Art Museum (Missoula, MT), Harwood Museum of Art (Taos, NM), and the Museum of Fine Art (Boston, MA).
