We want to see your art!

Mary Mills Lyall and Earl Harvey Lyall, The Cubies’ ABC (New York: G. P. Putnam’s Sons, 1913).

Here at Variable West we’re all about sharing resources, and we want to use our platform to help West Coast artists get more visibility.

Though we have a limited annual budget for exhibition reviews, we still want to highlight as many West Coast artists as we possibly can. So, this year we’re opening up submissions for weekly artist features.

Here’s how it works:

First, you:

  • Are an artist living in California, Oregon, or Washington
  • Send 3–5 images and/or videos to hello@variablewest.com with the subject line “ARTIST FEATURE
  • Include a one-sentence description about your work or practice and a short bio
  • Include any artwork caption information you want us to include
  • Include your Instagram handle and website if you have them

Then, we:

  • Review submissions and choose which artists to feature each week
  • Chosen artists will have their images and text formatted into a carousel post that we will share on our Instagram

Things to remember:

  • We’re a two-person, part-time team — please be patient with us.
  • We don’t have capacity to respond to every email. If you don’t hear from us after two weeks, it’s likely we didn’t chose to feature your work.

Questions? Feel free to send them along with your submission and we’ll answer as soon as we can.

We’re here because of you.

By setting up tax deductible monthly support or making a one time donation of your choosing, you’re directly helping the Variable West team build a stronger, more resilient and diverse West Coast art world. Your support makes it all possible!
