Introducing Amelia Ketzel, our spring quarter Editorial Apprentice

We are thrilled to announce that Amelia Ketzel is joining Variable West as the spring 2022 Editorial Apprentice.

Amelia is a Washington native and current undergrad at the University of Washington studying Art History and Classics. With a love of material and visual culture, she is deeply involved with the Jacob Lawrence Gallery, acting as a committee member and an Assistant Curator. She also runs communications for the UW Textiles Studies Cohort.

The VW Editorial Apprenticeship is a paid program that allows emerging writers and editors to learn how an online journal works while expanding their art writing practice. In addition to assisting with daily tasks such as website and social media management, apprentices receive reading and writing assignments, participate in discussions, and will take ownership of Variable West’s Love Letters column.

Apprentices receive a stipend of $2,000. This spring quarter’s program is made possible through a collaboration with the Jacob Lawrence Gallery at the University of Washington.
