thank you, black materials swirls in gratitude for the lifeworlds of Black material life as expressed within works by six contemporary Oregon-connected artists of African descent. In sculpture, text, textile, painting, and film, the exhibit calls to sensorial awareness the knowledge, knowing, immaterial, and material practices of these artists and what they choose to surface, hold, embed, obscure, divine, and reveal. Inspired by curator Intisar Abioto’s material research into the history of Black artists in Oregon, the exhibition features work by Nikesha Breeze, Rob Lewis, sidony o’neal, Ni Abioto, Ebin Lee, and Jeremy Okai Davis.
