(In)Form
In his exhibition (In)Form, Vashon-based artist Nate Clark employs laborious and process-oriented techniques as a mechanism to foster patience and bodily awareness. Adapting to a slower pace in the early pandemic, Clark grounded himself in the material processes of his home on Vashon, gardening, beekeeping, and gathering wool from local farmers. These methods and mediums have in turn been incorporated into his MadArt exhibition, featuring sculptures of wool and cedar that engage the senses through sight, touch, smell, and sound. Clark’s personal creative practice is thus translated through his sculptural elements into a visitor experience that he hopes will cultivate mindfulness and embodied awareness.
