Elizabeth Dorbad: Rarefaction

Elizabeth Dorbad is a visual artist whose work exhibits in museums and galleries internationally. It has been the subject of solo exhibitions in Berlin, New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles and included in the dOCUMENTA(13), Los Angeles Craft and Folk Art Museum, Torrance Art Museum, Museo de Lázaro Cárdenas in México and the Memphis Social curated by Beautiful Fields and Apexart NY. She practices in an expanded field of sculpture, utilizing methods broadly ranging from bronze casting, photography, film, video, performance, architectural intervention, installation and social action. Current projects include Itinerant Architectures, an on-going site-specific series that has had iterations in Memphis, Baltimore, Norfolk, Oakland, San Francisco, Badger, Berlin, Kassel, Los Angeles and New York. In 2015 she founded Orations, a nonprofit visual arts project working for the advancement of civil rights and social justice. Dorbad has been a visiting critic at the University of California Berkeley. She is affiliated with Unspeakable Projects in New York.
