Common Ground

August 12 - October 31

Free
Two black and white photographs of rocky ground. The photograph on the left shows a rock in the center of the frame, while in the photograph on the right, the rock is missing but we see a perfect void of where it once was.
Common Ground is a platform for a host of conversations and events alongside an exhibition with works by Eugene Contemporary Art artist members and invited artists on the topic of art and ecology. This is the online space for these entanglements.
Exhibiting artists are Mika Aono, Michael Boonstra, Leah Wilson, Jill R Baker, and Karin Bolender aka K-Haw Hart.

As a way of getting to ecology through art, Common Ground is a space for exchanges focused on the natural world and environments of different kinds. Going beyond a divide between nature and culture, the work presented shifts ideas about what is natural, human, urban, or rural, by thinking through land, earth, territory and terrain. This work relates closely to the field as a concept both literally and figuratively: the field of inquiry and research, and the field as cultivated and open space.
