AMcE Creative Arts – Home & Away Opening Reception

November 6 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm PDT

Free
A rocky amalgamate of crystalline crag, varied in color and size and material, teeters on red heels, with two arms and a smiling head poised proportionally above.

AMcE Creative Arts is delighted to be hosting Home & Away, featuring emerging and established, regional and national artists with work ranging from collage, assemblage, and embroidery on found photos.

Home & Away speaks to the process of disassembling old stories to make room for newer, better ones. It is through the hero/heroine’s journey of transformation and reinvention that we find our authentic path and place. It may be different from what we thought, but we find our truth along the way.

Artists include:
Magda Baker
Adrian Landon Brooks
Johanna Goodman
Hey Lady Art Studio
Katie McCann
Colleen Monette
Krista Svalbonas
Jennifer Vanderpool

Colleen Monette will also have an installation in the main space Niche Market.

Through their differing processes of alteration and reassembly, this group of eight artists lend their unique voices to different facets of the heroic journey. While some work is infused with a romanticism of the past, others serve as connections to a sense of home or disillusionment thereof. Ambivalence about one’s unwittingly adopted social role is addressed, as is the warrior’s bravery required to forge change. Jewels born from the dark night of the soul signify a positive progress and cheeky, free-spirited humor is on display as an integral ingredient to embracing seismic shifts and a reordering of the past.

November will also debut a new collection in the Niche Market including original works and artist merchandise from Fallen Fruit, Matt Adrian (Mincing Mockingbird), Kim Bagwill (Frantic Meerkat), Jon Huck, Shh Books, and Nina Vichayapai among others.
